Management and cultural practices

  1. Grow healthy plants. Healthy plants do not require management against most native psyllids species for they can tolerate the psyllids substantial feeding. Psyllids' population will also decline naturally.
  2. Tomato and potato varieties that have extra hairy leaves are less attractive to psyllids (Cranshaw; Knutson, 1996). Ask for assistance from your local agriculture office for availability of such varieties in your locality.
